Girls’ Report EYAL Match 3 at Hornchurch
At the start of a very busy month for our youngest members of the Club the Girls put on an amazing show. The U13s came 2nd, U15s and U17s 4th. We again had an amazing number of PBs - 20 and SBs – 5.

Hornchurch was our first fixture of the month, and with 4 weekends of matches, we are certainly in for a busy few weeks. A warm welcome to our newest members of the team: Wilf, Owen and Archie. What a great start you made with fantastic performances and earned the team 24 points between you and 1st place positions for Archie and Owen – well done!
Bedford and County finished the fixture in 4th place yesterday; the boys scored 149 points in total.
Congratulations to Etienne Maughan and Lyla Danobrega, who both set new club records at the English Schools Championships at the weekend. Etienne's 13.98 seconds is a new club Senior Women's and Under 20 Women's record for 100m Hurdles. Lyla's 5:06.16 is a new club Senior Women's and Under 20 Women's record for 1500m Steeplechase.
Bedford and County athletes in the Bedfordshire Schools Senior Relay Team put a golden cherry on top of a silver speckled cake at the English Schools Athletics Championships held at Birmingham’s Commonwealth Stadium last weekend.
In the inaugural running of the mixed 4 x 100m relay event, the well drilled quartet of Etienne Maughan, Jasmine Wilkins, Daniel Harding-Forbes and Ben Moseray stormed away to win the “A” final in a time of 45.05 seconds, beating the time of the winners of the B final by over a second. With this being the first running of this particular event, their time will mean that Bedfordshire currently hold five Championships Best Performances from over the 98 years of these national championships.
The silver speckles come in the form of three silver medals over the two days of the championships.
The English Schools Championships are currently in progress in Birmingham, and there have been some fantastic performances from Bedford and County athletes. Lyla Danobrega claimed the silver medal in the Intermediate Girls 1500m Steeplechase, running 5:06.16, and Etienne Maughan also claimed silver in the Senior Girls 100m Hurdles in 13.98. Both these times are new club records subject to ratification. Thalia-Jade Mason also won the silver medal in the Inter Girls Long Jump with a PB of 5.59 metres. Noah Campion finished fourth in the Senior Boys 3000m in 8:44.75. Full report to follow.
The British Milers Club Grand Prix at Watford on 1st July produced PBs for for Ben Davies over 800m (1:52.46), and Jack Goodwin over 3000m (8:00.43), and Sam Knee-Robinson also over 3000m (8:19.96).
There were some excellent performances at the Eastern Championships in Cambridge on 24th June, with wins for Aston Lockwood, Glen Kerr, Bryan Zapnahiah, and a win and a Championship Best Performance from Sadie Werrett. Well done to all those who took part.
